Honeymoon

For our honeymoon vacation we planned to go camping in Big Basin Redwoods state park for a few days, then visit San Francisco. We left on March 17th in the morning, though it was a bit later than we planned. It was nice to drive through some green parts of California, and we did some shopping at Target in Salinas (hooray for gift cards!). We bought some things that we had forgotten such as a flashlight, and beach towels. Also Sophia needed new jeans, so we took the opportunity to get some there.
When we arrived at our camp site that evening we realized how many other things we had forgotten. Things like matches to start a fire! Or firewood since they don't want people gathering it there! We were able to buy these things in the town nearby the next morning. Despite these minor inconveniences, we had fun on a short hike that day and planned on a lengthier hike for the next day.

Delicious foil dinners cooked over our campfire!

Sophia. Walking. Exhausted. Still smiling.

Silly rest time.

Made it. Huzzah!

'Twas cold at night.

After camping, we visited San Francisco for a couple days and stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in South San Francisco. When we arrived we had some Vietnamese food, and the Cartoon Art museum sounded fun so we went and saw some interesting exhibits. The next day we traveled to Oakland to visit the temple. Later we returned to San Francisco where we strolled around Pier 39 and heard a great street performance by Bob Culbertson. We were so impressed that we purchased a CD as a souvenir. We ate at the Hard Rock Cafe (who validated our parking!), but afterward we were thoroughly exhausted by the hustle and bustle of city traffic and people. Therefore we returned to our hotel where we watched Rick Steves PBS specials on places to travel in Great Britain.
On Saturday, before returning home, we took a walk along the bay outside our hotel and enjoyed the lovely weather.
